My Story

Sabrina Barbara

Relationships are the most important and the most complicated thing in most people’s lives. I know this not just as someone who works with them professionally, but as someone who has lived inside that complexity for as long as I can remember.
I grew up in a family that separated. I watched the ground shift beneath people I loved, in ways nobody quite had language for. Later, I married. Then I separated. I became a single mother. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I discovered what I was actually being trained for, not by any institution, but by life itself.
For twenty years I worked one-to-one with people as a portrait photographer, learning to read what someone was carrying before they said a word, learning to create the conditions where something real could emerge. It turns out that is exactly the work of a counsellor. The room is different. The attunement is the same.
I’m an EFT-trained counsellor and ICEEFT Life Member. I trained in EFIT at Levels 1 and 2 through ICEEFT, and I’m developing a specialist clinical niche in EFFT, post-separation family repair, with a particular focus on rebuilding attachment bonds between parents and children. As an accredited mediator, I also understand the formal processes couples and families face, and can help you navigate or avoid them.
What I have come to understand, through the professional and the deeply personal, is that relationship rupture does not have to mean permanent damage. It can mean clarity. It can mean redesigning how you live and love with real intentionality. That is what I want to help you find.

On Cultural Humility

I bring to this work a genuine commitment to meeting each person inside their own cultural world, not presuming to fully understand it, but showing up with curiosity, respect, and the humility to know that I will never entirely walk in another’s shoes. That commitment shapes every conversation I have.
I work in English and German.

By the time most couples reach me, theyve been trying for a long time. The work isnt trying harder, the work is finally being understood.
